V1Sidekick is a companion app for the Valentine One Gen2 radar detector. This policy describes what data the app handles and where it goes.
With your permission, V1Sidekick uses your location to display your position, speed, and heading on the map, and to tag radar detections for the crowdsourced threat map. Detection reports (location, radar band, frequency, signal strength, and time) are shared with the community map service only according to your sharing settings, which you can change at any time in Settings → Community. Shared reports are aggregated into anonymous hotspots; your precise minute-by-minute movements are not published to other users.
Creating a community account is optional. If you sign in, we store your account identifier and display name to associate your shared detections and group memberships. You can delete your account and associated data from Settings → Account.
The optional weather radar layer requests precipitation map tiles from RainViewer. Those requests include your device's IP address and the map area being viewed, as with any web request. No account data is shared with RainViewer.
Severe-weather alerts and rain forecasts are provided by Apple Weather ( Weather) through Apple's WeatherKit service, using your device location. Apple Weather is a trademark of Apple Inc.; its data sources are listed at developer.apple.com/weatherkit/data-source-attribution.
Subscriptions and sound-pack purchases are processed entirely by Apple. We do not receive your payment details.
Some features are advertised as "coming soon" and are not yet active in the current release: CarPlay support (pending Apple approval) and sharing radar tracks privately with friends, groups, and the wider community. These will be enabled in a future update at no additional charge for Pro subscribers. Your purchase is for the features available today plus these planned additions; availability of CarPlay depends on Apple's approval.
